Next Packing Day:

Past Packing Days:

The first Packing Day of the new year was noted by frosty breath and frigid temperatures, yet over 140 volunteers showed up ready to support our Marines. Volunteers even traveled from Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Louisiana just to be with us that morning.

Bundled in layers of long underwear and sweatshirts, volunteers rallied together to send a total of 1124 care packages abroad! Lewis and Clark Middle School of Jefferson City, Missouri collected and donated 1100 pairs of black socks for packages, while volunteers nationwide collected Community Grants from their local Wal-Mart Foundations helping to alleviate the Care Package Project’s shipping costs which totaled over $12,000 for the January shipment. Both contributions demonstrated our volunteers’ desire to help in whatever ways they could, and for that Marine Parents is so grateful.

A special thanks goes out to all the volunteers for braving the chilly Missouri winter day. Your donations of time, service, and goods delivered reminders of appreciation and slices of happiness to our Marines during these trying times.

Email received February 23, 2010:

Hello Marine Parents-
I just received the package prepared by Ms. Beth Poisant of Ponchatoula, LA and wanted to send a very grateful THANKYOU for the wonderful items! I’ve shared a number with my fellow Marines here in Nawa, Afghanistan and the whole package is being consumed!
Your organization is wonderful and we really do appreciate the packages sent by you and our loved ones out here. We can’t thank you enough as you help us show the generosity of the USA to all people out here, both military and civilian.
Mail is VERY slow out here…lots of containers of mail have been held up because of our operations. Hope you know that despite the late mail, we still love receiving your care packages!
Of course, a special THANK YOU to my lovely wife and handsome baby boy for thinking of Papa while he’s out here! Miss you guys more than I can type.

Thanks to all,
RQ
Major, USMCR

Thank you from a Marine, via his Mother
Email received January 21, 2010:

I received a phone call from my Marine son, Daniel, that is deployed to Afghanistan. He had received his package and was enjoying it very much. It had been packed by the girl and boy scouts. They had included drawings and letters that he really appreciated. During his teen age years, he always assisted me in children's ministry. It was great that kids had a part in his package. He was amused that a cigar was included and I think that was a surprise that he enjoyed the most! Thank you so much for sending the care package to him. If you know who packed it, let them know that Daniel said to, "Thank them very much!" It really made his day.

Thank you,
Rhonda
